Das Konzert von Magnum am 09.04.2024 im Musikzentrum muss aus gesundheitlichen Gründen abgesagt werden. Bereits gekaufte Tickets können an der jeweiligen Vorverkaufsstelle zurückgegeben werden.

A message from Tony Clarkin

“I’m afraid I have some bad news for you guys.  Over the past year or so I’ve been bothered by increasingly bad pains in my neck and head.  For a long time the docs couldn’t work out why,  but now they’ve found out and it’s gonna mean some changes.

I have developed a rare spinal condition.  It’s not life-limiting, but it can be degenerative in some people, and sadly it’s not curable.  There are treatments that may help but we don’t know how good they’ll be.

With the nature of touring and the weight of electric guitars this means there’s no way I would be able to play the scheduled shows in the spring.  We’ve taken the decision to cancel the tour, rather than mess anyone around trying to postpone in the hope things might get better in the short term. Bob didn’t feel it would be right doing it with a dep at this time.

This is not gonna be the end of Magnum, but the future might have to be a bit different, so please bear with us while we try and figure out what I can and can’t do moving forward.

I’m really sorry for everyone who’d already bought tickets, it goes without saying that I’m absolutely gutted that I’m not gonna be able to play for you.

Hugh Cornwell

Endlich mal ein Live-Package bei das mit dem „Very Special Guest“ keine leere Worthülse, sondern ein verbindliches Versprechen sowie An- und Aussage ist.
Magnum rocken zusammen mit Hugh Cornwell im nächsten April – der sprichwörtliche Hammer! Die Hard-Rock-Legende Magnum gibt es nun schon seit 1972, obwohl man damals bestimmt noch nicht ahnte, dass man mal wirklich legendär werden würde. Sänger Bob Catley und Gitarrist Tony Clarkin gründeten seinerzeit eine Rockband in der Stahlstadt Birmingham. Es war die Zeit der ersten Hard-Rock-Bands wie Black Sabbath, Deep Purple oder Led Zeppelin und so wurde die Hard-Rock-Landkarte um eine weitere Band erweitert. Mit Songs wie „Vigilante“, „The 11th Hour“ oder „Chase The Dragon“ kreierten Magnum Hard-Rock-Klassiker der Extraklasse. Bob Catley und Tony Clarkin sind auch über 50 Jahre später noch mit von der Partie und legen jetzt zusammen mit ihren Mitstreitern live wieder los und bald sogar ein neues Studioalbum vor. Wenn das genauso einschlägt wie die letzten von Fans und Kritikern hochgelobten Werke wie beispielsweise der 2022er-Kracher „The Monster Roars“ können wir uns warm anziehen. Seit der Reunion 2002 wird im Studio und auf der Bühne durchwegs hochwertig, ach was … höchstwertig abgeliefert.

Und jetzt der Clou an der anstehenden Tour, denn dieses Mal hat man sich eben keine musikalisch ähnlich gelagerte Combo wie beispielsweise zuletzt Gotthard als Power-Partner an Bord geholt, sondern mit dem früheren Stranglers-Sänger Hugh Cornwell einen stilistisch andersartigen, aber nicht minder außergewöhnlichen
Musiker auserkoren. Cornwell, schuf unter anderem den Stranglers Überklassiker „Golden Brown“. Mittlerweile ist er als Solokünstler unterwegs und hat tolle Alben im Kasten. Sein aktuelles Werk „Moments Of Madness“ wird sogar als das Beste seiner Laufbahn bezeichnet. Live kann er also aus dem Vollen schöpfen.
Hier treffen zwei ganz große Acts des britischen Rocks und der britischen Musikgeschichte aufeinander. Auf der einen Seite harmonischer Hard- und Heavyrock mit melodischer und progressiver Note von Magnum und auf der anderen Seite alternativer Pop/Rock mit poetischen Texten von Hugh Cornwell.
